F-35 ADAL BUILDING 118 FOR FLIGHT SIMULATOR
CTI was tasked with the renovation of Hill Air Force Base Building 118 to modify it from its current state of F-16 Flight Simulation to F-35 Flight Simulation. The goals and objectives of the F-35 expansion predicted the need for this renovation and addition to meet the growing demand for F-35 training.
The facility includes Full Mission Simulator (FMS) modules and their associated equipment and support facilities. Each FMS module (often referred to as “pod”) consists of the FMS/OTW cockpit display in a high-bay space. Supporting spaces include computer equipment, instructor workstations, and a brief/debrief room.
Design criteria included fire protection, electrical, and security/communications considerations. Although this project did not reach LEED Silver certification, Sustainable practices were implemented to the greatest extent feasible.
